Reflections and Achievements:
My 8-Year WFDYS Adventure

Transcript:

Hello, I’m Shirley fingerspells name Maybe you know, or don’t know, that I’ve been heavily involved as a volunteer for the WFDYS (World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section). I began my involvement in 2015, meaning I’ve been involved for 8 years – whoa. It has flown so fast! In July I will finish up, will step aside due to meeting the maximum age capacity. I do have a plan for what I’ll do next.

When I first got involved with the WFDYS, I imagined that I’d be involved in the sharing of information and presenting, yet there was so much more to it! There were lots to do over the 8 years; there were projects, different work and commitments, different things over the years! And so, I am pulling the handbrake and pausing myself. I want to present to you all, you, the Deaf community, those who are wondering what I actually did over these 8 years. I’ll share with you my journey, my experiences, what roles I had and more recently the role as president over the last 3 years. It has been a huge challenge.

So. The presentation will be 14th June, a Wednesday night from 7pm to 8.30pm. It will be on Zoom. Please register on the link and it will send you the information on how to join Zoom. I’m really looking forward to seeing you join me and watch. We’ll have about an hour of presentation and then the last 30 minutes will be held for Q & A where you can ask me questions and I’ll answer – an interaction session.

I’m really grateful for all of your support over the 8 years; thank you so much. I look forward to seeing you on the 14th of June, 7pm to 8.30pm. Bye!
