Blue background with a thin white border framing the page. In the top right corner is an outline of Australia with the words National Week of Deaf People on the West Australia side of the outline. On the left is an abstract picture of Shirley Liu logo. In the middle is the date 20 SEPT 2022.

In the middle is typed NATIONAL WEEK OF DEAF PEOPLE in capitals and underneath SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEAF PEOPLE in a smaller font.

On the bottom right is the page number 1.

On the bottom right is the page number 2.

White background with a picture of the paper-plane flying above a green watering can at the bottom. There is a question above: Who can be the best next water? You! There is always a time to set up a business.

On the bottom right is the page number 3.

It is important for businesses and organisations to provide opportunities for Deaf people to get a job, get work experience, develop skills in the workplace and participate in the larger society, to feel and do well as individuals. Although, to the Deaf community I say: you CAN set up your own business or invent a new project of your own. Why can’t we grow the Deaf Ecosystem even more? Give each other a boost to the Ecosystem’s health and support each other. The hearing ecosystem is HUGE with many buying opportunities; why not the same for the Deaf Ecosystem?

Your second analogy! When you plant a seed, what does it need to grow? Sun and water. The sun refers to the developing of skills and knowledge, the water refers to employers and supporting individuals to help the plant grow well. YOU are the seed and you all can grow wonderfully.

Plants give many benefits, such as fresh air, a calm vibe and boost creativity and productivity. This also supports the Ecosystem to continue to grow and support.

I’d love to see more and more Deaf businesses in Australia and see this boost the Deaf Ecosystem. If the idea is not yet well established, go on, have a try, and see what happens. If it doesn’t work out, adapt and modify. You’ll never know if you never try.

I set up my own business, so you can do it.
