It’s wonderful to see in this day and age the growing acceptance of diversity throughout the world, of different identities and backgrounds. This enriches the many different perspectives; it’s beautiful.
You know how when you’re flying and you can see all these houses of different appearances, size, colour and gardens that can be really artistic? Why? Imagine if all houses looked the same, built the same, coloured the same. Do you think that this is how things should be? No?
It’s the same for diversity; the value of diversity is incalculable. Going back to the analogy of houses; they do not always remain the same in their original condition. People change them over time to reflect differing tastes, renew what’s old, change what’s disliked. The core of the house is the same, though. The foundations are solid and so we can apply this concept to people’s life journeys, where intersectionality is the foundation and exploring identities is the reflection of differing  , knowledge and experiences.
So when you think about your own identity, think about it like building a house. What would it look like?
Be yourself. Be proud of who you are. Be proud of your family background and of the knowledge and experiences you pick up along the way of your life journey. Be open, not closed. Don’t reject things out of hand. Â
